Lestu báðar sögurnar, hljóðskrá fylgir, leystu síðan verkefnin við hvora sögu fyrir sig.

 

A)

Hér er að finna söguna "The toys of peace" eftir Saki. Lestu söguna, hlustaðu á hljóðskrána með lestrinum ef þér finnst það betra. Svaraðu svo eftirfarandi spurningum á ensku:

 

 

• Who are the main characters in the story? 

• Does the story in some way reflect the times when it is written; for instance in            relation to gender and views of life in general? 

• What is the narrative viewpoint? 

• What is the setting of the story? 

• How would you describe the plot of the story? 

• How would you categorize the story? Is it a romance, a realistic story etc. 

• Why do Eleanor and Harvey want to change the way the boys play? 

• What toys did Harvey buy for the boys?

Hér er að finna söguna "The bet" eftir Anton Chekov. Lestu söguna, hlustaðu á hljóðskrána með lestrinum ef þér finnst það betra. Svaraðu svo eftirfarandi spurningum á ensku:

 

 

• What did the majority of the guests at the banker´s party think of capital      punishment? 

• Why did the banker favour the death penalty? 

• Explain the bet that the banker made with the young lawyer. 

• Is the story as relevant today as when it was written? Why? Why not? 

• Describe the main characters? 

• How did the lawyer pass the time in confinement? 

• Why did the banker decide to kill his prisoner? 

• Do you think the end is fitting to the story? Why? Why not?
