Þolmynd er búin til með sögninni TO BE og lýsingarhætti þátíðar.
They broke into the house = The house was broken into (by them).

The fox ate the chickens = The chickens were eaten by the fox.

The teacher taught me to read = I was taught to read by the teacher.

She is preparing the meal now = The meal is being prepared now (by her).

 

They were constructing the house when i was there. = The house was being constructed when I was there.

They must finish the work tomorrow = The work must be finished tomorrow.

She can do her work alone = Her work can be done by her alone.

You have to do this tomorrow = This has to be done tomorrow
